Aleutia Computers (pronounced al-oo-sha) is a social enterprise startup based in Old Street, London with a singular aim to distribute online computers at a price point that is affordable to as many families, schools and businesses as possible in the developing world, and particularly in Africa.

To do this we make really small, really energy efficient computers that can run on solar power and can reliably work in rural areas that are dusty and hot. We have taken off rapidly and now have customers in 63 countries from Afghanistan to Zambia, including hospitals, schools and universities, both in Africa and the UK. Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the work we are doing and is excited about contributing to our growth. You will get unique work experience in developing and positioning new products for new markets, designing marketing material, ordering components, blogging, and experience in manufacturing processes and prototyping at our Earlsfield workshop.

As we’re a rapidly growing startup you’ll be working directly with senior management instead of being sidelined in a small department of a big company or forced to do menial tasks like mail-room work. You’ll never have to make a cup of coffee.

We want someone who is driven and who is smart and you’ll have a real chance to leave your stamp on a company that is changing the way people think of computers.

We have an exciting opportunity offering an internship position for 2-4 days per week. The role is unpaid but we’ll cover travel expenses and lunch.

Success in your role would lead to a full time paid position within 4-6 months.

Any candidates applying for this role should live within easy travelling distance to our office since we are not a nine-to-five company, but rather 24/7/365 and the work day can extend into the evening occasionally.  

Any candidate should have an infectious work attitude and be familiar with the startup mentality, enjoying the highs and enduring the lows.  There is no single job for the duration of the Internship, you will be involved in several company departments and should enjoy the thrill of taking on new challenges and solving problems both alone and as part of our team.

Essential Requirements

• Be a student currently enrolled or recently graduated (minimum 2:1) from a degree that is relevant to our work (Marketing, Accounting, Marketing, MBA, Computing, Development)

• Have some experience working in an office and/or manufacturing environment.

• Be into technology - let us know what tech blogs you read for brownie points.

• Research us as a company - we’re on YouTube and in the news. Just google us.

Things We’d Like to See (not a deal breaker but nice to have)

• Some experience building PCs either professionally or personally.

• Experience working/volunteering in South America or Africa. Also great if you’ve travelled there.

• Understanding of online marketing and web analytics
