Product Description

 

Small Low Power Server

Everything you need in an entry-level Linux server with 24/7 reliability and power consumption of just 18 Watts. 

Two Drives for Redundancy -  our custom chassis allows for 2 x 2.5" drives, enabling RAID 0,1 options. Available with hard drives or SSDs for a No Moving Parts solution.

Ideal Proxy/Firewall Server - with dual onboard Gigabit LAN ports, the X1 is ideal for networking applications, especially in bandwidth-challenged areas. 

Dual Core. Still Low Power - based on Intel's new Cedar Trail Atom Processors, the X1 provides better performance than traditional SOHO Firewalls but with power consumption of just 18 Watts (14 Watts with SSDs).

Perfect Proxy or Firewall Server

The X1 features Dual Onboard LAN Ports (with full PXE and WoL support), and is fully compatible with the open-source Squid proxy server. 

This allows you to cache web content locally - a huge deal in bandwidth-limited areas. 

Dual Drives for Redundancy and RAID

Just like the Mac Mini Server, the X1 comes with 2 x 7200 RPM 500GB Drives which can be mirrored or set to RAID 1. We can also provide it with a 120GB Solid State Drive for OS and appls and 500GB hard drive for data. 

If you want No Moving Parts, you can configure it with 2 x 120GB SSDs.

Fanless Design for Tough Environments

We built the X1 for use in rural Africa where dust clogs up computer fans and kills them. Our X1 is made from a ventilated metal chassis and combines a massive aluminium heatsink wtih an ultra energy efficienct processor to elimiate the need for cooling fans. 

12V DC Input – Use it Anywhere with a 12V Regulator

This means you can run it directly from a 12V solar battery since our add-on optional DC regulator allows you to run any voltage from 12 to 30V. And with power consumption of 1.5 A (18 Watts), a battery and small solar panel could run the X1 24/7 completely off grid. (We'll be releasing a Solar Kit in July 2012.)

Wake-on-Lan (WOL), PXE Network Boot, and Auto Booting After Power Loss

All Aleutia PCs support network booting and BIOS support to power on after power loss (or return to last power state). This makes our PCs, especially the T-series, great as “always-on” servers.

Example Applications

 We use the X1 for education projects in Africa to share a single 3G connection with 10 student PCs. The first time a student visits a Wikipedia page they grab it off the 3G or VSAT connection. The next 500 times someone goes to that page, it comes off the server - instantly. 

Proxy Servers speed up web connections.
